2010 - Europeadefestival Bolzano (Italy)In 1983 the Children and Youth Group Pagadderke was established from the Folkgroup “De Uiltjes”. The objective of the new dance group was to ensure the possibility for children and teens to enjoy themselves in their hobby’s. The group is divided into two age groups, as the name suggests.

Children group

As of the age of 5 years, the children are welcome during the weakly rehearsals. Whilst playing, the dance steps are being thought and by repetition the smallest among the children are quickly familiar with the simplest of dances. Throughout the year the children build up their skills, where every skill is a step upwards towards harder and larger dances, of course taking into account their age.
Until the age of 10, the children stay in the children group, where they feel more en more at home among the skilful guidance of Diane Van Raemdonck. The group is ideal for children that love to dance and love the hang out with other children.

Youth Group

As the children turn 11 in the coming dance season, they transfer to the youth group. Until the age of 16 they will dance under the directions of Roland Decorte.
In this group more attention is given to the total package of the dances, steps, postures, figures, experience, building of the show, cooperation, etc.
Like the children group, the weakly rehearsals are used to toil on the dances, but with a whiff of humour. Working this way ensures that the children keep enjoying en relaxing themselves.

Rehearsal moments

Both age groups rehearse on Sunday morning from 10 until 12 A.M. Of course, there is an intermission to regain strength, but also to play and to tell each other the stories of the past week.

Relaxing moments

Because we find it important that the children get to know each other very well and build friendships with each other, it is crucial to organize several extra activities. Dancing with each other is only possible if the children can relax and get to know one another in a different way.
That’s why we organize several unstrained teambuilding activities like ice skating, forest walks, Pagadder weekends,…

Shows

Taking to account the regular shows, it is useful to rehearse weakly. Thus, we expect the children to be present on these gatherings and not to be the missing link. The Pagadders perform in nursing homes, school happenings and large Belgian Folkdance festivals.
During these performances the group builds up its stage experience and the children get used to the yearly renewed dance program, which they will perform on international stages and an international public.

Record

International shows

Almost every year, the Pagadders take part in an international festival, where they perform their program to the big audience. These foreign festivals are always successful with the audience and the children live towards these trips.
